The B.Sc. in Fashion Design and Apparel Merchandising (FDAM) has been proposed with a view to strengthening the inseparable bond between “textiles” and “fashion”. The department aims at generating fashion designers alongside the textile engineers who will work hand in hand in the upcoming days to make significant contributions to the world textile sector. The Bachelor degree in Fashion Design and Apparel Merchandising (FDAM) offered by the University has been designed for the students who want to pursue their career in the field of textile fashion design and Merchandising. Although Bangladeshi RMG manufacturers have already entered into the global market we still do lag behind when it comes to competing in the world of fashion trade. However, the situation is no more going to remain the same. Currently, Bangladesh is focusing on generating as well as patronizing human resource that can lead us towards the global fashion trade and the academia has got a significant role to play in this. With a view to achieving this goal, the University has come forward to offer this particular degree in Fashion Design and Apparel Merchandising (FDAM). This department will provide the enrolled students with a coordinated understanding and overall knowledge in all the major disciplines of Textiles. However, the emphasis will be put on providing the students with an extensive theoretical as well as practical knowledge on Fashion Design and Apparel Merchandising related courses so that each one of them graduate from here as a resource person.
